What’s the appeal of the global menu?
I find it annoying as it’s far away from the window and you have to focus on the window before you can interact with the apps menu. Worst of all, it’s hard to tell which window /instance the current menu belongs to!

3·14 days agoCould be done, it’s a country in Europe. It reaches into Asia, but then again France reaches into South America and nobody complains.
EU isn’t only about open borders. It’s open market and lots more.
Because you don’t know where this information will end up. Companies often get hacked and the information leaks out.
Your email, address, phone number can be used to spam and scam you.
Other information can be used to make scam you more effectively, or even scam your relatives if they sprinkle enough seemingly private information in it.
Your public photos and videos (tiktok, YouTube) can be used to make a deepfake of you and end up online to blackmail you.
Ask yourself what you have yo gain from sharing information online, and remember that the internet never forgets.

LLMs keep getting better at imitating humans thus for those who don’t know how the technology works, it’ll seem just like it thinks for itself.

Like that time they made a giant hole in the screen and called it ‘dynamic island’ 😂
It’s the iBump, it’s a haptic invention gently letting you know you have passed to the other half of the screen. They also made it visible to give you a gentle cue as to where the middle is.

3·2 months agoOna scale of units consumed, yes. A TikTok lasts seconds whereas a book takes days to compete.
However, I’ve read books more engaging than some tiktok videos.
It’s unusable without ads, so if you watch a lot of YouTube it’s worth to pay.
AGI could be possible if a new breakthrough is made. Currently LLMs are just pretty good text predictor, and any intelligence exhibited by them is because they are trained on texts exhibiting intelligence (written by humans) . Make a large enough model, and it will seem like an intelligent being.
That’s ableist. Not every voter can can get in the booth by themselves.
I believe the distinction is you have a right to copy for own use/backup but you don’t have the right to break the DRM preventing you from doing so.
For example, you have a right to make a copy of a video game (by installing it to hard drive) but DRM willl prevent you from running it unless you have the original disk in the drive.
