I created !peertube@lemmy.world in case anyone finds channels, videos, ect that they like.

Will talk about Linux, plants, space, retro games, and anything else I find interesting.

Yeah the search is the worst part. As others have said the technology is there, we just need a better search.
The other issue is Lemmy (and perhaps other platforms) has issues with Peertube channels. I can’t direct link Peertube for activityhub posts. Lemmy is a no go. !teddy_the_dog@piped.chrisco.me Piefed for example works: https://piefed.social/c/teddy_the_dog@piped.chrisco.me
I host one and don’t plan on taking it down anytime soon! If anyone likes dog videos: @teddy_the_dog@piped.chrisco.me

Its interesting that on lemmy almost everyone gets some kind of upvote/downvote (interaction) whereas on reddit and other sites, you either get viral success or…nothing. No upvotes/downvotes no interactions. My theory is the algorithm + number of people de-humanizes the act of communication in such large communities.
Unfortunately reddit has fuzzed their up/downvotes for many years now. So every reload is going to get different numbers.
I do the same on mastodon. I want pictures of puppys not hearing about whatever dump/elmo are pooping on next.
Yuck 3rd party frontpage. One of the reasons I wish lemmy had filters like other fediverse clients.
Getting an honorary penguin is part of the process :D
Hope not, your doing good work!
Not saying your wrong lol. But this is the /c/reddit community. We are not going to go and post on reddit about this (well not anymore). And my local community is not going to remove themselves on reddit unless something pretty horrific happens. I like fediverse more (so im supporting that).
Nice! Yeah I did a couple of runs on pokemon and some mods too. Fun times.
I can see that!
First option for each object. Unless things get bigger/tons of serializers/etc… then we move to the second-ish model.
To be honest, I usually just use whatever the framework has as best practices so that when new team members get on-boarded, theres less friction.
I2P is wild. I played around with it a while back. Looks cool, but I just cant find anything interesting on the network.
I dont :) Mostly.
Honestly I have an auto backup system. And then set it up to auto update periodically. Then use Debian Server as it almost never breaks as a server distro.
Yes very true. Honestly it just makes the internet a bit more resilient in the long run…but those growing pains will be interesting. If ISPs start rolling out router blocklists like the news has been saying, it might mean rooting/getting a custom router becomes a necessity.
Woops I always get those mixed up in my head. Which is silly.
I need to find time and look at all the amazing zines that are out there. ctrl-zine looks fun.
DNS can and has been taken down if site admins dont respond. As long as you use the US for resolving your .coms/.orgs etc… Your ISP may take action as well.
You can get around it with quite a few methods. But yeah those are the big ones.
The internet is a bit more centralized than people think.
Excellent. I hope we will all enjoy it. Teddy is a good boy :)
Thanks!!
