The thing is, when people try to argue that “killing” plants is also killing so I might as well just eat animals, apart from being an insane take as is imho, significantly fewer plants are harvested if you switch to a fully vegan diet. The net result is a lot fewer plants needed to sustain people vs. the oodles and oodles of plants and grains needed to feed cattle, pigs, whatever. There are these charts that show how much more efficient food intake really is if you cut out the middle-man - being animals - and just eat the plants they’d be fed instead.

People devalue animals as a whole outside of those that have been accepted by society to be sociable, likable - pets, basically - and only see them as a commodity. They don’t see the animal that dies for their consumption, the suffering they endure, and don’t think about just how many animals die for food. Comparing these mass murders across the globe to the Holocaust might be a little controversial, but I don’t see any other way people realise the sheer absurdity of animal AG.

Guys, I’ll switch in a heartbeat to a Linux OS if any one you can recommend a stable OS that works on a Surface Go 2. It should support its touchscreen, of course, and a Surface Pen. Plus, a FOSS alternative to Journal would be stellar

It’s a long story, but essentially, I played the game for the first time with my older brother back when MH2NDG came out and Freedom Unite hadn’t come out yet. Played Freedom Unite a lot when it came out, put the series back down for a whole until my best friend told me to get a 3DS and 3U to play together.

Played a lot of 3U, 4U when it came it, loved Generations and Generations Ultimate on the Switch a lot (latter is probably my favourite MH game by a wide margin), World I found ok, didn’t play a lot of Rise.

Kind of on a hiatus right now with the series

It’s about time. A couple years ago, it was such a hassle to buy the PS4 version on PS5. I think I had to buy it in a web browser separate from console to make it work or something

There was a recent post chain on Mastodon I think where a user shared their disappointment with Kagi - had something to do with their not being as privacy-focused as they claimed they are - and the CEO just decided to keep sending unsolicited emails to the OP about this, trying to with them over with phone and video calls

Lies of P surprised me quite a bit actually. I played the demo when it dropped and didn’t vibe with the game at all, so I lost interest. Recently I got my buddy’s PS4 which I jailbroke and installed a couple games on it among which was Lies of P. I’m enjoying the game quite a lot now and even though I haven’t finished the game yet, it feels like a good Bloodborne sequel in spirit.

Yea, exactly. We make the decisions together, discuss what to do next etc. I’m wondering, though, what co-op would look like if it existed

Lies of P when alone, Disco Elysium with my SO when we have the time, and Wild Rift most of the times when we don’t feel like playing DE :)

Sadly, only around 40ish fps on a base model but very cool nonetheless. The framerate and semi-smoothness kinda puts it in an uncanny valley territory for me since it looks smoother but also not smoother at the same time coming from PS5 performance. Lies of P runs a lot better in comparison even though it’s graphically more demanding, I assume

Actually not anymore. There’s been a recent breakthrough that led to a new exploit up to 11.00 being possible now. 11.00 is from, like, late 2022 I think? Obviously not an option if your PS4 has been in regular use recently, but I lucked out and got an 11.00 console from a friend of mine who hadn’t been using the PS4 for a while.

If you’re on a newer firmware, there is no way of reverting back to 11.00, unfortunately, unless you’re up for some soldering.

The HDD is replacable and afaik, you can insert an SSD too. Not sure about the sizes, but an internet search should point you the right direction.

Apart from that, using cheats for games, dumping your physical games and having a permanent copy you can use without the CD and an active license (probably possible with a digital game too I assume? not sure), applying patches like a 60fps patch for Bloodborne, emulation of PS1, PS2, PSP and a bunch of other consoles etc etc.

If any of you guys have a PS4 lying around gathering dust, consider jailbreaking it. Depending on the firmware, it is pretty easy to do and opens up a lot of possibilities. Surely better than being neglected :)

Edit: Firmwares up to 11.00 are jailbreakable as of recently. 11.00 is from around late 2022, so if you have a console that hasn’t been in use since then, there’s a good chance you can jailbreak it. Base model, Slim, or Pro - doesn’t matter
