Went to see Wicked last night, it was fantastic. I completely understand the decision to make it into two movies, there’s a lot of story to tell in that musical. They didn’t really add very much, and song-wise only added a bit to One Short Day, but still easily filled the runtime with only Act I of the musical.

For fans of the musical, it’s a delight. I have to imagine people who haven’t seen the musical would also like it, since the musical itself is good.

Yeah. It makes a lot of sense having seen it. You don’t do establishing shots in a stage show. Or reaction shots. Or take time to let emotions show on a closeup. Or have long action sequences. Act I took the entire 160 minutes and didn’t feel (to me at least) like it was overstaying its welcome or milking the content or anything. It’s a good adaptation.
