It probably depends on federation. So, if there are any instances that mine is federated with and yours isn’t, you might not see it. Or if somehow nobody on your instance has gone to some communities somewhere for the first time to get them to sync.

Although I don’t think either of our instances have defederated from anything major that I can think of. I know sh.itjust.works and hexbear can’t see each other, but I don’t post on hexbear at all.

Oh wait! Even though you can see all my posts, you wouldn’t see all the upvotes from defederated instances. That discrepancy could be the difference between counting hexbear upvotes or not.

I would guess it’s just based off of your account, so de/federation shouldn’t affect it. Theirs totaled 602xxx which is higher than I saw it. If I looked now it should be higher as well. Unless you really pissed some people off it shouldn’t go down noticeably with your posting frequency and good will.

Edit 604,034 so 4kish updoots today, decent.

It will be the non federated thing too. If hexbear is defederated from lemmy.world but not startrek.website, a vote from a hexbear user would show up for Picard but not for you, as that vote wouldn’t be passed on to your instance.

At least that’s how I understand it. It’s 2am and I’m full of cold though, so I might be talking a load of crap :D

All it has to do is show up on Picard end and it transmits that information to who ever views their page, no? So it more has to do with who Picards instance is federated with.
