They did this because those doors did not have locking mechanisms, because usually having multiple entrances is a good thing. In the specific context of the pandemic, they wanted to track everyone.
China’s Zero COVID policy was among the best in the world. Obviously they never accomplished Zero COVID, but they saved countless lives while we were marched to our deaths.
