I know, but nobody actually says cheese except probably 10-year-olds at summer camp. If you want a good photo taken, are you really going to say the word cheese? No you’re not.
Tbf, where and when I grew up (USA, 1980s-1990s), it seems like at least 90% of people taking pictures said “ok everybody say cheese!”, including school photographers/sears photographers etc. I think it was so common because they were limited takes of tangible negatives, so “say cheese!” improved the chances of getting a smiling picture
okay but why would there be more than one person saying “Cheese!”
Everyone being photographed is supposed to say cheese because the shape of the word mimics a smile. Why did you think people said cheese? Lol
Uh…I’m in my thirties, and this never occurred to me. Lol
Hahahaha, oh man that’s great. You’re one of today’s 10,000: https://xkcd.com/1053/
I’d love to see their family photos where only one person is smiling
I just assumed some peoe freaking love cheese. Can’t blame them tbh.
People don’t literally say cheese. They just smile. The photographer tells them to say cheese, and the people smile.
People are supposed to literally say cheese to make them smile. Really, honestly that’s why we say cheese:
