  • So I’m a die hard apple boi as well, but I’ve been getting into Linux a bit lately (to replace my windows machine that was solely for gaming)

I think the main reason I still stick with Apple over Linux for most things is that Linux requires more tinkering.

Every time I wanna play a new game I need to try out different versions of protons until it works. When I need a new software, I have to go google if I CAN have it, how to get it, or to find out what exact version I should use for my distribution, etc.

Linux, as impressed with it as I am so far, is like having an old classic car I’m fixing up. It’s a hobby. I need to dedicate time to learning, maintaining, and optimizing my experience. So it’s great for my hobby of gaming!

My Mac just works when I need it to work, no tinkering, no second thoughts. It’s the boring but reliable modern car I take on long trips. I just use computer, get work done, without roadblocks I have to google derailing me every 10 mins.

I’m all for Linux, I’ve very much enjoyed it so far and will continue learning, but as a “normie” using Linux, the simplicity of Mac is often missed.

  • Why can’t I make a thread? Why can I only use one emote? Why can I sometimes see a message on my phone but not on the computer? Why is there an “old” and a “new” teams app? Why does each one constantly ask me to use the other one? Why are there god damn Mabalene video filters, but yet my god damn calendar won’t sync properly with outlook. Why when I update my picture, does 1/3 of my team see the new one, 1/3 sees the old one, and 1/3 just sees my initials. I’d continue but my thumbs are tired.

Teams actively makes communicating with my team more difficult and I hope it dies so soon.

  • Yeah I have almost no apps on my Home Screen. Just one page of widgets, and 3 pinned to the bottom.

Otherwise if I want an app I just use spotlight. Quick swipe down and the first letter or 2 of any app and I’m in. I almost never touch the App Library.

This prob comes from using spotlight so much on Mac as well though.

I haven’t had one myself for a while, really anymore I just see it when watching vids on the flip phones or tablets it seems.

But android gave me the reason to switch (the messy apps) years ago, and apple hasn’t given me a reason to switch back yet.

It very well might be fine now, but until apple does something similar enough to push me to switch again, I won’t know haha.

It really just depends on if you prefer customization or reliability.

For example, I’m an apple boi because I like that every app in the store is made specifically for an iPhone (which is easy for devs to do since there’s little variation). It leads to better maintained and performing apps because devs can optimize for the device it’s running on.

On android, you have way more choices, which some people prefer. But for myself, I get really annoyed when I launch an app and it fills 95% of my screen, but not all of it, because my phone is slightly taller then the 2000 other variations out there. It’s much harder for a dev to optimize their app when there are so many variables to account for on android.

Neither phone (or company for that fact) is better. They serve different demographics of users is all.

I was someone who always knew about ad blockers, but just wasn’t bothered enough to use them.

I used YouTube SO much that it was worth it to me to have premium.

After all the bitching and moaning from YouTube last year, I un subbed, downloaded free tube instead, and also finally added an ad blocker to both my mobile and desktop browser.

I imagine I’m not the only one with that story haha.
