That’s my philosophy too. I like browsing all so I heavily filter with keywords and blocking. My community block list is approaching 600

A lot of changes look wierd on the surface from the companies, these are experiments for figuring out how to extract more money.
In this case my guess is people constantly look to seek out new content and avoid older content. If people don’t know, that could lead more general engagement then baseline and therefore an increase in revenue.
Its a bit like having an ant farm or taking the hood off a complex machine and watching it work. I miss compiling in Gentoo.
I like to remember this can (and will) happen to all of us at any age. Live your life on your terms, you have nothing to lose.
For Windows it absolutely is in order of listing however. Typical behaviour is no reply after a second against the primary DNS results in it moving down the list.
Redundancy aside, this is more important when you span multiple datacenters and always want lookups going to the completely local or most local DC available.
TIL about the Linux/BSD not having preference though. Good to know.
Me too, over 1400 hours. I use a lot of mods. I take a break for a year or more at a time and then get hooked again. I’m trying to wait for the NPC update until I do again
NetAlertX does network detection monitoring if that’s what you are after. I’ve been very happy with it, I use the ntfy forwarder so I get the alerts on my phone.
For me it’s because I’m hungry AF and just don’t want to wait for them to fix it. Not being that picky helps.
Ahh OK my bad. I’ve only worked with NTP for a long time and wasn’t aware of the earlier stuff.
Latency is accounted for in the sync process
Another happy Connect user here and you can enable the beta branch from the play store. I ran into a bug a few months ago and made a post, the Dev had it fixed hours later.
Connect was also one of the very few apps that was very early to doing instance and other flexible filtering options. It’s so good I can browse All without getting upset.
Same with me but on Connect. I can still use All and discover new stuff easily by being ruthless with blocking. I have several hundred blocked communities and use the keyword filters for major us politicians and such.
If there is someone who posts US politics in a general sub I just block the user.
I know I’m throwing some good out with bad but thems the breaks.
Seconding Connect for filters, it was early to the game on this. I use keyword filters like ‘elon’ and ‘trump’ as well as instance filters and it’s been great for curating a non rage inducing Lemmy experience.
I didn’t realize Dark Reader was laggy or known to be laggy but it makes sense. It doesn’t matter in any case, you’d have to pry it from my cold dead eyes
We’re up to 8 billion now, it’s crazy
Dead Kennedy’s
I owned this tape 😁
Yeah I thought the same. I played 1 from the very beginning up until release. When I heard about 2 I wasn’t even interested, it seemed to me it would be doomed from the start.
We had typing in the 90’s, but that was on electric typewriters, and was in I guess what you would call middle school not elementary.
Later there was ‘Mavis beacon teaches typing’ as the earliest typing ones that was really popular
