What subjects are you talking about that people assume views you don’t have? Politics?

While that is the excuse he will use, the justification comes after, he’s going to slaughter thousands of civilians either way.
A settler-colony founded on ethnic cleansing claiming to be the victim, rich.
How else do you stop psychopaths who just leveled 6 apartment towers in the heart of Beirut if not with violence?
He was targeted by the most powerful groups in society, immigrants.
One day, this country’s most marginalized group, police, will rise up, and get the boot of homeless people off their necks.
be critical of information coming in
The atomic unit of propaganda isn’t lies, it’s emphasis. Most propaganda doesn’t take the form of false information, but true facts spun in a certain way to build/reinforce a specific worldview in the viewer.
Tencent owns 11% of Reddit. Reddit is primarily a US propaganda operation.
Tiktok is wholly owned by a Chinese company, but unlike the rest of the world, the US version is hosted and managed entirely within the US, this (along with hiring a bunch of spooks and killing controversial things in the algo like BLM) was done in response to the Trump administration trying to come up with excuses to ban it.
I don’t see why China catching CIA agents would concern Americans. Most Americans are not CIA agents inside China.
Does whether or not Ukraine can win affect the calculus for the Biden admin in any way? Politicians on both sides have described the war as a way of killing Russians without spending a single drop of American blood, and every bomb sent justifies/enables more campaign donations.
The only thing that would be problematic for them would be a quick victory or loss.
I am blocked by WSJ for using an adblocker, do you have an archive link?
Yes, I’m criticizing the AP for not mentioning the man’s innocence or lack of evidence and non-recanted witness statements.
wtf is that headline?
Between 1970 and 1990, the USSR built, launched, and crewed 7 space stations. Without Moscow holding them back, over the last 34 years, Ukraine (and Russia for that matter) have put up a total of zero.
In 2020, 50%+ of Ukrainians 70+, that is, most Ukrainians old enough to remember the USSR as an adult, regretted the dissolution. In 2000, it was ~90%.
The USSR wasn’t a utopia by any means, but it was far better than what came after.
In what way is it disingenuous to frame Canada sending thousands of soldiers to a foreign nation to carry out a war as an invasion?
Canada did invade Afghanistan though?
The point was that it’s silly to try to divide up and assign individual responsibility for the achievements of the USSR 30-100+ years ago when those achievements were only possible because Ukraine and Russia were part of a greater whole.
If you’re talking about the whole “human wave” thing in WWII, the ex-Nazis made that up for their memoirs.
Ironically, there actual cases of human-wave like attacks in WWII, notably banzai charges by Japan and MacArthur’s Walking Fire.
A good number of people did until early 2022. It looked a lot better on paper.
Did it? I remember a ton of propaganda about Putin and Russia going back to the Obama era, but then they’d show off stuff the USSR had developed to fight a war in Germany/Ukraine against late 1900s American equipment and tactics.
Whereas China was showing off their modern fighters, tank and ship production, and an entire branch of the military dedicated to missiles, and greater numbers than any other military, all designed to fight their next war; defending against/driving the US out of it’s back yard.
it’s a pretty bold claim to say that EVERY nation with a military has tried to invade
It’s only the slightest exaggeration..
Between 1915 and 1920, they were invaded by: United Kingdom, France, US, Japan, Italy, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Serbia, Romania, China, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, The Ottoman Empire, and I’m sure I missed a few more.

Everyone in Europe killing each other every generation predates capitalism. Capitalism did increase the scale though; after the fall of the western roman empire, we didn’t see armies of that size until Napoleon managed to draft a million men in a country of 30 million.
