I, too, have been a longtime fan of Gnome. It’s workflow IMO is quite practical and pleasant to use.

Slightly off-topic here, but have you considered Fedora? For me it just gets the job done and stays out of my way. I don’t want to configure a whole bunch of things before I can get to work so I find fedora simple to use and well-integrated. Docs and forums are quite helpful too.
I see, thanks for the info!
Maybe I’m dumb but looking at wikipedia I’m a bit confused. Seems like you can do this on almost any linux distro. What is the reason behind setting up a dedicated OS, cost of operation, stability, performance?
I’ll start using this trick today
Aha! Reminds me of the good old days when I tried to minimize boot up time on my puny Ivy Bridge i5 laptop. Those days were fun!

Not saying this book is 100% correct and perfect, but most parts of it is still relevant and refreshingly insightful even after 20 years. I sure learned a lot about great engineering and generally how to approch and tackle difficult problems from it.
The other day I was on KDE on steam deck desktop mode and could not wake from sleep, not sure if it’s a KDE thing or steam os thing though.
Wow I didn’t know about this, thanks for the reading! I always feel morally in debt for using Wikipedia without giving back much and assume they were struggling a bit to operate, but wow they have received millions of dollars already!
edit: I’m still willing to donate though, and I just did, like I’m happy to pay for what I’ve learned from it, even if it doesn’t mean much to them.
lol, it’s not that bad is it? I have installed fedora on 2 of our machine without a single issue 😂
