I know it makes me basic, but I far prefer Nolan’s BATMAN to any that I saw previously, the camp aesthetic never really grabbed me, probably why I never got into comic books all that much

Before the internet you would have to go to a library to read a book you didn’t want to purchase. Libraries are still a thing. You can still go there to borrow a book, read it, and return it, so that others can read it.
The only difference here is the magnitude of access, where publishers weren’t very concerned with at the local library level for token public good, but are very much now alarmed with, in that the internet can distribute content to everyone all the time, content they were very much hoping to continue to monetize.
It’s information gatekeeping, but no one is going to tell the publishing industry they might as well fold up shop and stop publishing because they can’t make any money at it any longer.
Jen Lawrence is pretty, but the only thing I ever saw her in I enjoyed was Winters Bone, and that was a very long time ago now. She became interesting over The Fappening, seeing how “active” she was in her personal life, but from this one guys view, not so much there, professionally. I look forward to be proven wrong.
there’s a gif there, if you can’t see it there’s a problem with your browser or instance edit: there’s a discussion going on at https://fedia.io/m/asklemmy@lemmy.world/t/917243/What-s-the-reason-for-the-empty-comments-lately that might be tied to this phenomenon

Sites like match.com were such a target rich environment in placed like San Francisco and NYC, that you could score 2/3 dates a day if you wanted to. No cap. It was the wild west. It was glorious. Napster/Limewire meant you were never without music if you didn’t want to be. Movies/TV downloads weren’t available in quantity yet, but music was flowin.
I bought the device (s), I use it to turn on/off my lights, ask it the time and date every now and then, everything it prompts me for is annoying as fuck. I’m not paying a monthly fee for a device that I purchased to do simple tasks that were included when I bought it.
all this is understood, but the access is what’s paramount, not the state of the media
