  • My advice is: make your data eternal, not your distro. Your kde config and customization should work across distros (but don’t dualboot with 2 distros messing in the same /home). Don’t know about you, but I like the separated work/play dynamic I have with linux/windows so I’m waiting for bazzite to become dual bootable with linux to be my playstation. If you put your game library on it’s own partition/disk you can mount it from dualboot distros.

Every distribution is always the most stabellest, maintained piece of software on their website but fuckups happen, teams change, users get blamed for exotic circumstances tarnishing their reputation. Have a backup and use whatever feels right currently.

Pop_os is also ubuntu based btw, hate the name but maybe system76 is able to keep you safe from the snappification while you use what you are accustumed to?

  • No, it’s using the style of the rectangular blocks below where the black shading looks sensible and applies it to rock surface where it looks like marbling in the mountain instead of ridges or shades. And it gets worse in the back, where the mountainbase has a fingerprint pattern thats completely different.

  • Watch the 4080 super reviews on wednesday, there should be fresh 7900xtx data in there to make up your mind. It is 2x faster than the 2080ti according to techpowerup, so you might be getting 140-180 fps on your setup and allow you to skip a generation. The 7800xt has dropped to €500 sinds the superduper launches, fingers crossed for your 7900xtx.

  • I would wait at least until a week after the 4080 super comes out, this should impact 7900xtx pricing and is really soon.

Personally I would consider waiting the ~8 months for RDNA4 and be the first to buy the new flagship if I had your budget and monitor demands, and rock the 2080ti on medium and dlss if necessary.
