FFS, why does Trump look like he’s about to suck cock in every damn picture?
FFS, why does Trump look like he’s about to suck cock in every damn picture?
“I would give anything to have an assistant who understood my voice and context and my intent well enough “
Translation: I don’t want to put in the effort to make myself clear to others, I want to babble along being dependent on a machine to communicate with others and while we are at it, I want the machine to consider all my wishes and implement the rhetoric to manipulate everyone listening to my machine to do my bidding.
Computer: I have one workstation and three laptops, so I guess I don’t really need a backup plan there.
Washing machine: I’d just use a laundromat.
Phone: I have three phones, so I’m covered.
Toaster: No problem — I’ll just eat untoasted bread.
Dishwasher: I wouldn’t like it, but I’d just wash the dishes myself.
Stove: I could eat salads or order takeout.
Electric mixer / hand blender: order a new one and until it arrives I won’t cook stuff that requires one of those
Printer: I’d print at work.
Vacuum cleaner: I’d use a broom instead.
Electric kettle: I’d boil water on the stove using a pot.
Heating: lucky me, it’s summer, tell the landlord to take care of it (they need to, by law)
Fridge: fuck me, it’s summer, order a new one
As for other devices: no microwave (I prefer real cooking to reheating), no TV (haven’t had one for 30 years), no dryer (I just hang clothes on the hamper), no coffee machine (I do pour-over instead), no AC as this is unusual here

Almost every religion has some kind of missionary element, trying to spread or enforce its beliefs (and selling it as eternal truth). That’s basically how they survive and grow.
That’s the core problem for me: the need to convince others to believe the same thing. It turns personal belief into pressure, and that’s exactly why I don’t trust any religion.
Yes, it’s not all religions, but … (you should know how to finish the sentence)
Even if it was the fastest standard with the latest hardware, a shit load of memory, the best camera imaginable … I wouldn’t want anything in my house with the name “Trump” on it, even if it were a gift.
I also don’t live anywhere near the US. Do I feel like I can’t do anything? Not at all.

I try to boycott as many American products (physical or digital) as possible.
That’s surely one reason. Another would be collecting data to create profiles to make advertising and political manipulation even more effective.
That’s what a lot of Germans did back then: ignoring what’s going on.
I agree, the internet started dying before AI, not necessarily because of repetition or predictability, at least from my pov. It’s the political manipulation, the greed for getting and selling data and the advertising that is killing the internet.
AI is just the last blow to something that is already gasping for air.

It’s probably not the most poetic, but I like it:
Luftschloss
It literally means „air castle“. It’s a castle made entirely out of air. It looks stunning and grand in your imagination or when you talk about it, but it’s not real.
It’s like having a dream or a vision that sounds great but is completely unrealistic or impossible to achieve.
In English, you might say „pipe dream“ or „castle in the air“, but „Luftschloss“ sounds way more poetic and fragile, evoking something beautiful yet intangible.
There’s another one which is similar, but not the same:
Hirngespinst
The literal transition would be a delicate web spun by your mind. In Englisch you’d probably also say „pipe dream“, but there’s a subtle difference between „Luftschloss“ and „Hirngespinst“.
„Hirngespinst“ is more like an absurd or even silly idea you came up with. By contrast, a „Luftschloss“ tends to describe a beautiful but unrealistic vision with a broader, often more hopeful scope.
I’m not even sure if this is relevant. What is relevant though: we are all burned out and instead of asking who’s the most burned out we should probably fight the cause, because that’s the same for all generations: capitalism

I’m not so sure about that. I could easily imagine him thinking “that’s just Europe, we can win this”.
I’m fairly sure that he thinks the same about Canada, but that’s probably just too close to home to start a war. The US prefers to fight far away from home.
Right, shift the blame to the parents. Not the corporations targeting young kids and teenagers. No, the parents are supposed to watch their children and all of their devices 24/7. Growing up will soon feel like the Truman show. Privacy for children and teenagers? Hell no, parents need to be scared constantly because their kids could encounter something online which might make them suicidal because corporations don’t need to have any ethics or moral and they are surely not responsible for what their product causes.
Where do we go from here?
Cars that aren’t working correctly and could cause accidents? The driver is responsible!
Food which is contaminated and could cause death. The one eating it is responsible!
Welcome to the lovely new world where profit is everything and a human life is worth nothing.
It’s not fine. If it was, then I wouldn’t degoogle.
I accept if someone wants to still support certain companies by using there products and services, but I don’t think it’s fine.
