  • Tulsa native here. I never learned about it in school, even in the early '00s. I was a grown ass adult before I really learned about it and everything that happened. Notably, it was always called the “Tulsa Race Riots” to downplay the atrocities. The street in Greenwood was renamed to Reconciliation Way.

In my memory, that district never had anything going for it until recently, nobody cared. It’s been awesome to see it start to flourish. (I am not a lawyer) I really hope something can be done for the plaintiffs here, if it doesn’t fit the public nuisance law, surely there is something for the people directly affected by the events?

  • To my shame, I’m still deeply ingrained in the Google ecosystem. I settled on it like 8-10 years ago and I’m not sure how to dig myself out of this pit. More than Chrome, I heavily use Docs, Sheets, Drive, Wallet, YouTube, Gmail, I even have a Pixel (I hate how bloated Samsung is).

I’ve used Firefox a little for work because of the nice containers feature. Is Google Drive bad too? It’s so easy to share things, I torrent a lot of books and I’ve shared with a bunch of friends, idk if there’s an alternative that others could easily use.

  • I had to look this up, didn’t know about Bowie. He had underage groupies, at least as young as 15 (Lori Mattix). Apparently she remembers that time fondly, but today we would rightly call it coercion and pedophilia. She was treated kindly, probably given all the drugs she “wanted”, but that’s still a child.

There’s a counter argument about how later in life, he refused a kissing scene between him and Jennifer Connelly during Labyrinthe, and that shows he understands the age gap is wrong.

I don’t regularly listen to David Bowie. I can sometimes separate the art from artist, but I’m now gonna have trouble knowing he was having sex with (raping) a 15 year old girl.

  • You are 100% correct.

I think OP agrees with you too, but the question is more around the “why”. Once, we were also like animals, and didn’t have clothing. To the animal brain, things like large breasts or wide hips means better reproduction. Did we start to cover up because it was cold and we got sick? It makes more sense to me that we started for practical reasons, and the hyper-sexualization came later, probably with religion.

Today, women are sexualized to an insane degree, and expanded to any number of inane body parts and not just breasts.

I think OPs question could also be phrased as “why did sex become so taboo?” And we might get a broader picture.

  • I’ve got maybe 40 hours played, reached level 20 something.

I guess I place a higher emphasis on base building in these games and compare it to like Valheim, V Rising, or Raft. I expect it to get better (I still haven’t figured out terraforming for farms) but it feels so bad to regrind for materials because I want my base pretty.

When I last played on March 1st, the workbench had a pretty limited number of things to craft when it came to base furniture (mostly had building materials). I had to initiate it by talking to the relevant craftsman. I’m okay with armor/weapons/forge type upgrades sticking with their inventories, but personally would rather have a single spot to build all my base stuff instead of having to remember who to talk to.

  • This game is a ton of fun, I love the story, I love how easy it is to re-spec your character, but the experience of base building is hot garbage.

You use raw materials to make separate building materials. Kinda cool in theory, especially because everything is laid out on a pretty fine grid, allowing for a lot of freedom in placements.

But then you get better building materials, you go from Rough Stone to Cut Stone and guess what, you have to farm 700 stone again and all your previous building materials are literal trash because you can’t break them down into raw materials.

You can make bigger, better chests now? That’s great! Wait, why can’t I find it in the workbench menu next to the small chests? I have to talk to this other guy? Where do I find rugs? Is it my build hammer menu, the workbench menu, do I talk to the carpenter or the hunter?

    It’s just awkward all around.
