The Mask was a product of its time and a remake to present day sensibilities wouldn’t work.

Is it weird that I saw the OG film 5+ times as a kid can only remember him finding the mask in the sewer or whatever, and the one where he turns a balloon tommy gun real and shoots a bunch of guys?
I’d be on board if they absolutely retconned the previous sequel.

I mean, there were games, comics, sequels, a cartoon series, toys, costumes, merch…
Son of the mask was the sequel and we all know how that turned out…
