Didn’t expect a nude scene in a Disney show lol
All in all, enjoyable first episode. Was a bit surprised when it ended, are all episodes only around 30 minutes? I was expecting a 45min show.
One thing I’m not quite understanding is how the Westview residents were experiencing the time during which Agatha thought she was in a true crime show? Was she just hallucinating, therefore kidnapping Teen while thinking she was arresting him?
Edit: I completely forgot to say I laughed out loud when reading “Agnes of Westview: Based on the Danish series Wandavisdysen”… such a silly name
Nudity was a surprise but Agatha just owned it, it was hilarious.
In terms of Westview it seems like Agatha just acted out (various?) TV shows and the town thought she was a weird neighbor. Possibly a neighbor who handled the Hex less better than others. So if she asked a neighbor about a locket they just made up whatever they could and the spell she was under adjusted it a bit to fit.
Yeah, she was the neighbor that went loopy after Wanda all mindraped them, and who could blame her?
It seems she acted out most of it in her own house (even driving somewhere) so wasn’t really harming anybody.
Maybe someone can help me out here: I was going to watch this with my wife. She has seen Wandavision, but she skipped some of the newer shows. Is there any sign yet that you should’ve watched any of them before?
If you’ve seen WandaVision & Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness you should be covered.
Not that I’ve seen. All references in the first 2 episodes are to Wandavision, no other Marvel property.
The police drama thing was a bore and went on too long.
It was much better when the actual plot got going.
It was a fun callback but I’m glad it moved on quickly. I do think it was nice to help us understand the spell Agatha has been trapped in for 3 years and just how deep of a spell it was.
Nicky Scratch’s room in Agnes’s house in a preserved state has some intrresting implications. Maybe Teen isnt Billy, maybe he’s Agatha’s kid? Maybe Scratch shows up later with Salem Seven?
Mephisto when? /s
“There are no new ways?”
I get the vibe this show might introduce a few.
Were they parodying Mare of Easttown?
Seemed like a parody of procedural crime/police shows in general, not sure if it was any specific one
I avoided the commercials. I’d almost forgotten that Aubrey Plaza was in it. That was a pleasant surprise.
Shout out to zabadoh@ani.social for directing me here. For some reason his comment doesn’t show up on a post I made about this show (guessing our instances are defederated from eachother or something).
I didn’t enjoy the episode so much, I thought the introduction with Aubrey Plaza was unnecessary. I would’ve liked them to take the time and introduce the teen more and showcasing his charisma and cunningness that comes out of nowhere for episode 2. He was the one who started breaking her out of the spell so should’ve been the one to talk her out of it while she was shedding her layers of it.
Then cue the fight scene, lackluster and the ending just seemed off with Agatha’s back and forth character switching and then them just dropping the fight. Could’ve used the time with expanding on her fantasy and the differences in reality, like the library scene could’ve been really funny seeing how it really played out while she was stuck in the spell. I’m so glad they released the second episode because it feels like a huge stark contrast between “marvel plots” and the new possibility of the witches storyline and themes.
I agree it was a slower episode, but I think it was useful in establishing what Agatha has been up to this whole time. It gave a clear idea the type of hell she’s been trapped in.
